To Store Sermons and Much More Every person who is serious about studying the Bible (whether for the purpose of teaching others or just for their own personal devotions) could benefit from a computer database that allows easy access to a wide range of sermons indexed by topic and Bible text. My Online Sermon Central approach has made a wide range of material available to you via the Internet. But many of you could also use a program that would allow you to input and manipulate data in a system which you could control. This type of database approach on your own hard drive would help you to better organize your own material and to better search through the variety of contributors that are of interest to you (while screening out the contributions that do not interest you). Paul Apple (email at: [email protected]) has developed just such a program and is offering it here free of charge. Paul is a graduate of Princeton University with an M.Div from Grace Theological Seminary in Winona Lake, IN. He lives in the Baltimore area with his wife and four children and is the Marketing Manager for the local Caterpillar distributor. His family is actively involved in several homeschooling and sports ministries along with local church responsibilities. You may download the base program and then as many as the add-on databases (which function from within the program via a "Change Database" menu option) which interest you.
BIBLEKEY SOFTWARE AND SERMON OUTLINES: NOTE: Biblekey operates on Win95 or NT (Includes 634 sermons - updated Feb. 14/99) This is the base program along with a couple of accompanying databases of sermons and outlines to get you started. After you unzip the file, you just run the Setup.exe program to accomplish the install like any commercial software product. Then you can delete the setup files. Paul has included a wide range of sermons based on many different Biblical texts from a conservative evangelical perspective. For example, check out his own outlines on the first 80 Psalms. The program stores the actual outline (or even full sermon text -- the level of detail varies) in addition to the indexing features (by passage, by topic, by title, by Big Idea, by location preached, by date, by preacher, by thesis statement or actual outline itself). Illustrations can also be stored and linked to specific sermons. The blank database template provided (User.mdb) allows you to input all of your data, rename the database Yourname.mdb and offer your material as one of the add-on databases such as those offered below. Using this standard format it will now be possible to collect and easily index a wide range of material whether illustrations, counseling aids, notes from books, sermons, etc. And the great thing is that it is all FREE!
You may freely use, copy, or distribute this material, provided it is done at no cost to others. More goodies: Addon Sermon Databases Free Midi Sequencer - Playhymn
